La bottega

A Florence guide that works like a workshop

Florence Itinerary is an independent travel guide to one city. Not a content farm covering two hundred destinations — one city, covered the way a bottega covers its craft: narrowly, obsessively, and with standards.

The site exists because most Florence advice online is recycled from other Florence advice online. Opening hours copied from pages that copied them from pages that were wrong in the first place. We wanted the other kind of guide: the kind a friend who lives there would give you, with the courage to say “skip it” out loud.

Come lavoriamo · How we work

  1. 01

    We walk everything

Every itinerary and quartiere guide on this site is a route that was tested on foot — with the timings, queues, and wrong turns that only show up when you actually do it. If a walking time is listed, someone walked it.

  2. 02

    We pay our own way

No comped meals, no press passes, no sponsored placements. When a restaurant or gelateria appears here, it's because it earned the spot. Our sister trip-planning app, ITINE, is the only promotion on this site and it is always clearly labeled.

  3. 03

    Prices come from receipts

Ticket prices, menu prices, and daily budgets are recorded from what we actually paid, then re-checked against official sources. Every page carries a “last verified” date so you know how fresh the information is.

  4. 04

We tell you what to skip

Honest guides need a “no” column. Our verdicts include the museums you can skip, the restaurants coasting on their location, and the months you shouldn't come. If everything were essential, nothing would be.

Start with the 2-day itinerary if it's your first visit, or browse the seven quartieri if you've done the checklist before. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy, and how the site makes money is in the disclosure.
